TechEagle will work with Zomato and help the food delivery company to deliver foods by drones by creating a hub-to-hub delivery network powered by hybrid multi-rotor drones.

Founded in the year 2015 by IIT Kanpur alumni Vikram Singh Meena, TechEagle focuses on custom-made drones capable of carrying up to 5kg of payloads.

It is also interesting that just a couple of days earlier Ministry of Civil Aviation has legalised flying commercial drones in India and also announced a policy called Drones Regulations 1.0.

The Founder and CEO of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal said, “Our first ‘delivery job’ currently is to design multi-rotor drones that can pick up a payload under 5 kg and set up drone delivery circuits for reducing the last mile delivery leg. We believe that robots powering last-mile delivery is an inevitable part of the future and hence is going to be a significant area of investment for us.”

Currently, Zomato delivers 22mn monthly orders and has around 1.5lakh partners across 100 cities in India. Zomato has made 12 acquisitions in the last couple of years including Runnr and TongueStun aimed at boosting its food delivery and logistics network.
