The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) lets users download a ‘masked’ e-Aadhaar card, that comes with a Virtual Aadhaar ID (VID).

The Virtual ID can be easily used to authenticate your Aadhaar, without having to reveal your Aadhaar number.

The UIDAI, in a statement issued in January, said that one’s Aadhaar number cannot be derived from the VID that is generated. The virtual ID can be used for the purpose of authentication in the same way the Aadhaar number is used.

How can you get Aadhar Virtual ID?

Go to the UIDAI Website to generate your Virtual Aadhar ID online.

Enter the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card.

Type the security code to generate an OTP.

Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.

Soon you will receive your 16-digit Virtual ID on both your registered mobile number and your registered e-mail id.
