Shikara App Developed by J-K students for booking Shikara ridesANI | A group of eight college students has developed a ‘Shikara App’ for booking boat rides in Dal Lake at the touch of a button.

Students of Aryans Group of Colleges in Chandigarh, namely Riyaz Rasool, Irfan Ahmad Malik, Abid Mushtaq, Aquib, Shakir Ahmad, Asif Ahmad, Mehbooba Bano, Bilal, Mehzabeen, and Sabreena, developed the app to help both the tourists and Shikara owners operating in the popular tourist spot.

Details of all Shikara owners from gate number one to 20 has been made available on this application. Now, tourists can choose the gate and owner of the Shikara well in advance.
On the other hand, Shikara owners will have the choice to accept or reject the offers made on the app.

“We have used Uber and Ola applications for cab bookings. It was after this that the idea of developing an application for booking Shikara rides struck us,” said Sabreena, one of the developers.

Tourists lauded the initiative and stated that the app would help them while visiting Kashmir, especially Dal Lake, as there would be no monopoly regarding rates for Shikara rides.
