Roudram App Launched By Kamal Hassan For Women SafetyIndian Actor Kamal Hassan has launched a new mobile app called Roudram which is created by a student named Sudha to empower women.

The Roudram app aims at giving women assistance in times of need. The app has derived its name from the word ‘roudram’ means anger and is aimed at channelizing once anger in changing the society for a better tomorrow for women.

While inaugurating the app, the actor and politician Kamal Hassan said, “This app will be a call for help. We should create a society where women would be safe.”

Kamal Hassan further talked about the need for women safety in the country and how men are responsible for ensuring women safety. The actor said that it is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children from childhood how to behave and respect others.

Kamal Hassan further added, “We need to treat children, boy or girl, the same way. They need to be taught how to respect everyone equally.”

Kamal also remembered his mother Ullaganayan, and said that he has not seen a braver woman than his mother and hoped there were more women like her in the society.

Reacting to the reports coming out from #MeToo movement and on the question on how women should react to cases of harassment if they don’t have evidence, Kamal said, “Speak up about the injustice you have faced, maybe there would be some eyewitness who will volunteer to support you. Raising once voice against injustice is the first way to tackle this issue.”

Also encouraging women to be brave, Kamal appreciated Roopa IPS who was also on stage for the launch of the app. Introducing the IPS officer Kamal said, “For those of you who don’t know this brave woman, she was the one who had brought to light the details of how Sasikala was going out of prison for shopping. She had accessed the prison visuals to reveal this.”
