Emma Martina Morano died a couple of days before on April 15, 2017. She was the world’s oldest and the last surviving person born in 1899, has died at the age of 117, as her life spanned three centuries. Emma Martina is one of the five oldest people recorded in history.
Morano was raised in Vercelli. he was the oldest of eight siblings. Later she moved to Italy where she remained for a major part of her life.
For the last 90 years, she followed the same exact diet – three eggs per day (two raw, one cooked), Italian pasta and a dish made of raw meat. Morano was engaged to the man who was called to the front during First World War. Morano never saw him again.
In 1926, she was married to another man but ended the wedding after her six-month-old child passed away. Morano then decided she doesn’t want to marry again.
Morano was 5 years younger than Oldest Person ever, Jeanne Louise Calment, who lived 122 years 164 days.
