Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shailaja on Thursday confirmed India”s positive Instance of coronavirus in Thrissur.
A woman student who returned from China”so Wuhan has tested positive, the Minister said.
Shailaja, however, stated there is no need to panic, adding the girl is being kept in isolation in a hospital.
“So far, we’ve delivered 20 samples for testing of that 10 turned negative, results of six are awaited, and one instance tested positive. Four other samples also have been shipped,” Shailaja said, including a second gene arrangement evaluation is to be done.
“The individual returned from Wuhan where this virus was first found out,” the Minister said.
“Her condition is stable and she’s improving. Everybody arriving from China should report to the wellbeing authorities, but we found out that not all are reporting,” she explained.
The Minister said directions are given to all state-run hospitals to observe that proper measures are taken to face any eventuality.
“We are totally ready to handle this and I reiterate there is no need to panic in any way,” she said.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare first declared a positive case of coronavirus from Kerala has come to light.
“One positive case of a Novel Coronavirus — a student studying in Wuhan University — has been reported from Kerala,” said a statement published by the Health Ministry.
“The individual is stable and is being closely monitored,” said the ministry statement.
In line with the figures put out on Wednesday night by the Kerala health authorities, approximately 800 individuals are under monitoring with 10 in hospitals and the rest at their houses.
Wuhan city in China seen an outbreak of the new breed of coronavirus a month. As repatriation flights to get foreign nationals continued since the death toll in China from the new coronavirus has climbed with 7,711 to 170 affirmed cases.
Finland reported its first case on Wednesday.
